01 / Getting started
Getting started
Near Wallet is free to download. Transactions on NEAR require network fees, and some services may charge additional fees. Review the total before confirming.
A self-custodial NEAR account does not require an email address or identity verification. Third-party services, such as buying crypto with a card, may have their own requirements.
NEAR supports readable account names such as alice.near, as well as long account IDs. Always check the full recipient account before sending funds.
Creating or importing a wallet usually takes a few minutes. Take your time to safely back up your recovery phrase before adding funds.
02 / Security & recovery
Security & recovery
If you lose both your recovery phrase and access to your account keys, Near Wallet cannot restore access. If you still have access, secure a recovery method before losing that access. Never share your recovery phrase with anyone.
Near Wallet does not hold your private keys and cannot freeze your native NEAR balance. Tokens and third-party services may have separate controls or restrictions.
Hardware-wallet compatibility depends on the wallet version and device. Check the connection options in your installed wallet before transferring funds; never enter a hardware wallet recovery phrase into an app.
Check the Security page for published security information. Only treat an audit as verified when you can review its report, scope, date, and the software version it covers.
03 / Network & fees
Network & fees
NEAR transactions usually finalize within a few seconds. Network conditions and the app you are using can affect when a transaction appears as completed.
NEAR network fees are paid in NEAR and depend on the operation. Storage deposits and third-party service fees may also apply. Check the transaction details before approving.
This wallet is designed for NEAR Protocol. Check your installed version for any additional network support, and never send assets from an unsupported network to your NEAR account.
Staking delegates NEAR to a validator to help secure the network and earn variable rewards. Validator fees and performance affect returns, and unstaking involves a waiting period. Rewards are not guaranteed.
